Northeastern states
Assam: Heavy rains have lashed 17 districts, affecting over 78,000 people. Eight people have died and a red alert has been issued in three districts.
Manipur: Flood-like situation persists in parts of Imphal, where heavy waterlogging has disrupted daily life.
Mizoram: Heavy rains triggered multiple landslides, killing nine people, four of them in a single incident after three hours of continuous rain.
Arunachal Pradesh: Lakhimpur district is the worst-hit, with over 41,600 people affected. Relief and rescue operations are underway.
Punjab
The state is facing its worst floods in decades, with the death toll rising to 51.
Over 3.87 lakh people have been rendered homeless and 22,938 people have been evacuated from flood-hit areas.
Crops on over thousands of hectares of land have been destroyed and the forest department has reported the loss of 4,94,956 trees.
Other states
Uttarakhand: Five people have died in a cloudburst and landslide, while several families are trapped under debris.
Delhi: The city recorded 399.8 mm rainfall in August, the highest in 15 years, leading to flooding and evacuation of residents from low-lying areas.
Relief operations
Relief and rescue operations are underway in the affected areas led by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other agencies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit flood-hit areas of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to review the situation.
